Nostalgic Seamstress - Memories remade - aprons made from your old treasured garments.
History of Aprons

The principle use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath, because she only had a few.  But along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven... and much more.

Drying children's tears, or even used for cleaning dirty ears or bring eggs in from  the chicken coop.

When company came those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids or for Grandma to wrap around your arms when weather was cold.

Those big aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove and carried many chips and kindling wood into the kitchen for the stove.

From the garden it carried all sorts of vegetables.  After the peas had been shelled it carried out the hulls.

Using her apron to hold them, Grandma used to set her hot baked pies on the window sill to cool.

Today's Apron

The modern apron wearer might set their pies on the window sill to thaw, but they are juggling their own and new set of life experiences and obligations.... and they look pretty great doing  them!!

We think Great Grandma would be proud we are still using aprons and making a statement with them.
