About Us
The idea that sparked the start of this business is a family story.
We were 10 children, 2 boys and 8 girls. Our parents married in 1935 and lived most of their lives as farmers. They were hardworking, honest and loving people.
Our mother cooked, mended, cleaned and taught, all with love. One of her many talents, sewing, was passed along to us girls. The two older sisters, Runell and Francine, became our most gifted seamstresses.
Our Daddy passed away in 1991 and Mama followed in 2003. Their home remains as it has for years and continues to be a treasured get-away, filled with loving memories of years gone by.
Our Mama's clothes hung in her closet exactly as they were when she lived. Then our sister Francine came up with the idea of making some of Mama's clothes into aprons for all the girls in the family. She and our sister Runell surprised our family with aprons they made from Mama's dresses.
These aprons are treasured, unique gifts to each of us. All those dresses that hung unused represented many memories of our mother's life. We were all thrilled and humbled by what the aprons represented to us. Today we each wear a useful garment of Mama's.
We decided that this was such a unique and wonderful gift idea that other people might like the opportunity to have their treasured memories remade into a one-of-a-kind gift... and there you have the start of Nostalgic Seamstress.
